“Eight Years, Five Contracts, and One Amazing Journey” My Time at PGT…

Our PGT team talks about what’s “between the lines” — what motivates and excites them, why they choose PGT, and what they’ve learned along the way…

At PGT Solutions, I enjoy the distinction of being “the first employee.” It comes up every time we onboard a new employee, and each time, I get to share my story. In this brief blog, I want to share what my journey has been like. This is not a nostalgic look back at my 8.5 years with PGT. Instead, this is a message of encouragement to my colleagues and a public expression of gratitude to the PGT leadership team that has made this possible.

My Journey by the Numbers

Here’s my PGT journey by the numbers… Since 2017, I’ve held business analyst roles in 5 different government contracts, with tours-of-duty ranging from 6 to 24 months. When I was asked to join PGT’s corporate staff, I had the opportunity to lead two non-government projects and help jumpstart a new business partnership. In support of ongoing corporate operations, I’ve carried out a variety of assignments, including training development and facilitation, staff recruiting and onboarding, and contributing to proposal evaluations, solutioning, and technical writing. I was affectionately labeled the “jack of all trades” and “the one who never says ‘no’.”

A Role I Value

For instance, a task I look forward to is onboarding new employees and preparing them for contract duties. Sharing my experience and knowledge accelerates their readiness, and their feedback is motivating. Our corporate team is small, and there’s a lot to do; therefore, no job is too small. Our leadership appreciates all our collective efforts and sacrifices, so how could I say ‘no’?

Looking Ahead with Gratitude

I end by saying, these past eight-plus years have been a wonderful mosaic of challenging but fulfilling assignments, and I eagerly look forward to continuing this journey. None of this would have been possible without our CEO’s foresight and intuition when she hired me, along with the ongoing encouragement and collaboration of past and present PGT colleagues.
