BPM+ Health Transitions to HL7 International: Advancing Global Healthcare Standards

In 2019, PGT Solutions was excited to be one of the first small businesses to become a member of the Object Management Group’s BPM+ Health Community. Today, we’re excited to announce that the BPM+ Health Community is transitioning into the Health Level Seven International (HL7) family as the HL7 BPM Community, marking a major step forward in advancing global healthcare standards.

The Role of OMG and BPM+ Health Community

OMG, a global nonprofit, fosters collaboration on innovative technology challenges. The BPM+ Health Community was established to tackle critical issues in healthcare delivery, including:

  • Promoting consistency in care delivery across various settings.
  • Creating a seamless patient care experience.
  • Improving organizational flexibility to adopt emerging care practices.
  • Leveraging commercial tools and open standards widely used in other industries but underutilized in healthcare.

What is Business Process Management (BPM)?

Business Process Management (BPM) focuses on modeling, documenting, and automating workflows. By integrating human and automated tasks, BPM helps organizations streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and improve outcomes.

Joining HL7 International: A Milestone for BPM+ Health

As part of HL7 International, a globally recognized ANSI-accredited organization, the BPM+ Health Community will contribute to advancing global healthcare interoperability.

About HL7 International:

  • HL7 is committed to enabling secure, seamless access to health data worldwide.
  • With affiliates in over 30 countries, HL7 is a leader in developing health IT standards.
  • Key standards include:
    • FHIR® (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources)
    • Version 2 (V2)
